We have always been rather frugal and we try to make Christmas special without going overboard on gift giving. Of course, it is always fun to give gifts to those we love, and it is especially fun (I think!) to have a gift to take along to a holiday gathering. Making my own Christmas gifts has been something that I’ve done for many years, so I am always looking for new ideas of gifts to make that are not only inexpensive, but things that people might really want and use. For this week’s holiday/end-of-year prep theme for the Home matters Linky Party #211, I went searching for practical and pretty, yummy and budget friendly. Here’s what I found! #Organize #HolidayStorage #HomeMattersParty
I don’t know about the rest of y’all, but my hot pads are getting rather tattered and stained, and I would LOVE to get a set of these cuties for Christmas! With just a few simple embellishments on a set of inexpensive hot pads from the dollar store, and you can create a one-of-a-kind gift that will perfectly match the kitchen of the hostess at the next holiday gathering you attend. I’m definitely going to try this one!
Who doesn’t LOVE brownies?!?! Homemade brownies are even better, and this beautiful gift jar is filled with all of the ingredients to make your own batch of homemade brownies for a chilly winter day. Perfect for kids of all ages, so you might want to make up a few of these for fun, inexpensive, and thoughtful gift giving this Christmas.
Wouldn’t this be a fun gift for your favorite literary friend?!?! You can always find great books at the local thrift shop and cover them with fabric (or see my altered books covered with fabric, lace, trims, buttons, and pretty papers HERE). You can find the tutorial for covering books with fabric at Two Twenty One.
Even if you avoid sweets the rest of the year, the holidays are sometimes an opportunity to indulge just a little bit . . . . and I’m sure that there is someone in your family or among your friends who would be delighted with a gift of this yummy looking caramel sauce from Baked Bree. The sweet little jars are adorable with the red velvet ribbon and silver jingle bells. What a “sweet” gift for a hostess, or really for anyone on your Christmas gift giving list.
This one looks so absolutely yummy, and pretty too, that I think we will give this a try to take with us to a church group this coming weekend. I’m all for super simple and inexpensive, and if we fill up a pretty jar with these cinnamon almonds and tie a big red bow around the top, we’ll be ready to go.
What are you doing for gift-giving this holiday season? Do you like to make your own gifts or would you rather buy the perfect gift for all the special people in your life? Either way, I hope you will have a joyous and blessed holiday season and a very Merry Christmas!
