The last few weeks have been a lot of fun around here! On the days when I can get outside and work, I’ve been accomplishing quite a bit towards accomplishing our yard and garden goals this year. We still have a long way to go, but taking the time to look for new ideas and inspiration has really made this something that I look forward to every day. What can I create / fix up / paint / plant / clean / or rearrange today? For this week’s Home Matters Linky Party #185, I decided to turn my attention to summer decorating ideas for the inside of our house. #SummerDecor #HomeMattersParty
I always try to get as much of the outside work taken care of early in the season, because once it gets really hot outside, I’m pretty much worthless when it comes to doing anything out there besides sitting in the shade with a glass of lemonade. I’ve never handled the heat very well, perhaps because of my fair skin and freckles, but if it is too hot I get a headache and just feel generally miserable. So my outside tasks are for early morning or evening once things cool off. Right now, it is perfect! I can work outside for a couple of hours in the morning, come inside to do my other work (where it is cool and comfy), and then go back out for a little while after supper in the evening. Last night I went out and finished sweeping up a bunch of those annoying twirly-gig things. There are still about a million or more that will be falling over the next week or so, but at least I got started with that clean up.
We are also planning to power wash and paint our deck, but that will be another BIG project. Hope we can get to that before too much longer. Maybe we can get started this weekend, we’ll see. So, now that I have found a whole bunch of ideas for what I want to do outside, I thought this week would be a good time to turn my attention to finishing up some of the indoor projects, and bring some summer light and sunshine to the rooms in our house. We still have some painting to do, and we need to replace the flooring in the dining room, but I can jazz up the rooms that are already painted.
I found several fun ideas that are light, bright, and colorful that might work for our little corner of the world. I guess I really need to just decide on ONE project and do it! Too many good options make me feel overwhelmed and then I don’t do anything (am I the only one who gets this way sometimes???). Here’s my collection for this week’s inspiration . . . which one should I do first?
