Yes, I know it isn’t actually spring yet, but I’m beginning to think about all the fun DIY projects I want to do now that we have survived the holidays and the winter months of misery – January and February are when some or all of us in our family (and probably most everyone else, too) gets leveled with some type of sickness. The flu was really bad this year, according to lots of people I’ve talked to, but then there is always the whole collection of yucky stuff that floats around this time of year. Bronchitis, colds, sinus infections, ear infections, coughs and sore throat, and even pneumonia (which happened to me the winter I really thought I could just handle that bronchitis and ear infection without going to the doctor!) seem to keep everyone in a lengthy period of exhaustion, discomfort, and discouragement. I’m done! #DadgumThatsGood #HomeMattersParty #173
With this week’s Home Matters Party #173 featuring anything and everything that we determined to be “Dadgum that’s good!” I decided to gather up a fun collection of DIY spring home decor ideas. Whenever I am looking for creative DIY home decor ideas, I typically look for things that will last more than just a few weeks out of the year. So the kinds of projects that I find intriguing are the ones that are relatively more challenging, expensive, or time consuming. Not that any of them are actually very expensive, but they are different than the kinds of seasonal home decorating projects I used to do when the kids were little. I wasn’t looking for paper plate baskets or bunnies, or construction paper cards, or Popsicle stick wall hangings. As much as I love those kinds of seasonal projects . . . but I have boxes and boxes of those kinds of decorations that I’ve collected over the years of raising kids.
So I was looking for things that I can make / create that will add a touch of spring cheer to our front porch or our door, or even bigger projects like the DIY pastel painted chairs that I came across. I have several mismatched chairs that I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with, and now I know. Here’s what I found on my little journey searching for DIY spring home decor for Vintage Mama’s Cottage. I hope they inspire you to start thinking about spring, too!
