So far this week isn’t going as planned . . . . I was hoping to get this blog post up yesterday, but that didn’t happen for a variety of reasons, and then today was completely devoted to our oldest daughter. You know, the one who seems to be first on the scene of any “accident” just because she is the curious one. Just as I was about to take my morning cup of coffee out to my office and turn on the computer to get my work started for the day, my phone rang. It was only about 10 minutes after the girls left for school, so I immediately panicked when I saw it was the Curious Kid.
“Hello?” I asked anxiously as I answered the phone. “Um . . . mom . . .” “What, what, are you OK?” I just needed to know that everyone was alive. “Yeah, we got to school OK, but . . . I slammed my hand in the car door and now it’s all black and blue.” Oh, well we can handle that I thought to myself, with a sigh of relief. Off to the school nurse’s office just to check, and then the phone rang again about 10 minutes later. Guess we better go to the ER or the walk-in clinic to have this thing checked out just in case she broke her finger.
So much for getting my morning work done, but the important things in life (like family) are always more important than all of the other responsibilities that we pile upon our schedules. After sitting at the clinic for an hour or so, we then had to head on over to the hospital for an xray. An hour or more after we arrived at the hospital, we were on our way to the pharmacy for an antibiotic, just in case. And then . . . she wanted to go back to school! Take two aspirin and call me in the morning, I said to myself.
Now it is late afternoon and she is home from school and now back out the door to her after-school job. Her finger is all wrapped up like a big sausage and I am waiting to hear from the doctor’s office about the xray to know whether her finger is broken or just bruised. Either way, it is all black and blue. I’m kind of worn out from all of it, I guess that’s what happens to a mama when one of her babies is hurt, and I really need to take a nap, but I STILL have stuff to do that I had planned to do before lunchtime today. So here I go . . .
One of my blogging goals this year is to do a weekly round-up of a few other bloggers and their posts that are creative. I can’t always make new stuff (as much as I want to!) as fast I would prefer, so this is a fun way to find ideas that I want to try and share them with you. Today I found several really fun posts that include recipes, home decor, and even a calendar for February. Cute! So since my day has been kind of goofy, and I’m tired, here are a few of my favorite creative blog posts that I found. I hope you’ll pop over to visit these bloggers and let them know how amazing their creative ideas are . . . and be sure to tell them Vintage Mama sent you!

There’s my collection of creative inspiration to beat the winter blues for this week . . . . I hope you are having a good week so far (at least maybe better than mine started out!) and that you will have time to be a (at least a little bit) creative every day. I’m trying my best, but some days are definitely easier than others. If you think of us, please say a little prayer for our inquisitive kid with the smashed up hand. Talk to you again soon!
