Welcome to the first Home Matters Linky Party of 2018! Our very first Mini-Theme Roundup features all kinds of fun, creative ideas for New Year Inspiration and Goals. Come along and join us for the Home Matters Linky Party #166!
As I’ve been thinking about ways to refocus a bit in this new year on the domestic side of life, there are several areas of day-to-day life that I really want to make sure to include. Since we’ve been in the middle of painting and updating our home for the past several months, of course I will need to continue to make progress on those projects. Another area that hasn’t been particularly “focused” is my study time in God’s Word. Although we read together every morning at breakfast, and I have time during the day to read as well, I haven’t had a very disciplined approach, so that’s another area I want to get back on track.
Part of that will include returning to writing in a journal. I’ve done that for years, but more recently I was finding art journaling a good way to express some of my creative thoughts, and I’m thinking I still want to do that, but my friend Theresa Begin at Shoestring Elegance has inspired me to return to a hand-written gratitude journal. Check out her blog post for inspiration, you might decide that would be something you want to do in this new year.
Another area that is changing in my life is how I can let my girls know how much I love them. Of course, I tell them every day, and they are at an age where they pretty much kind of roll their eyes and remind me that I tell them that I love them about a million times a day . . . but I know they like to hear it still! So when I can across the blog post with the printable love notes for children, I thought that would be a fun thing to do to remind them they are loved. I just might make a few for my sweet Hubby, too!
So here are a few blog posts I found that are helping me follow through on some of my new year commitments: New Year Inspiration and Goals this week at the Home Matters Party #166. Hope you’ll join us and discover your own New Year Inspiration and Goals! Leave a comment and I’ll do my best to stop by and visit you soon!
I’m always looking for other bloggers who love to fix up old stuff and make new stuff for their home. Since I do a lot of that with clothing and accessories, and I find it to be lots of fun to do that in my home, too, Randi’s blog was fun for me to find and check out her creative ideas. I love her style and I’m really excited to try out some of her ideas here as we continue to fix up our old house. Visit her for some DIY inspiration as you make your plans and set goals for the new year!
I’m really looking forward to getting back on a schedule with some guidance in Bible study this year. Of course, there are so many great Bible studies out here that it might be hard to decide where to start, so when I found Jennifer’s blog post, I thought I would jump in and get started. We also have a new Bible study going on the RUBY blog too, which is based on a Bible study series by Carol Peterson, “With Faith Like Hers.” The first study in this series is “I am Elizabeth” and it has tons of interesting information about Elizabeth in the New Testament, the mother of John the Baptist. So it looks like I won’t have any trouble finding a good Bible study, it will just be a matter of deciding where to start and get going! If you would like to start your new year off with a commitment to regular Bible study, visit Jennifer’s blog or stop by the RUBY blog and visit the Bible study page.
As part of my regular Bible study, I’m hoping to get back to writing a gratitude journal on a daily basis. That isn’t always possible, of course, when you have kids that need your attention frequently, but it is one of my goals. We’ll see how I do, but I’ve certainly been inspired and encouraged by Theresa at Shoestring Elegance to make it a priority. Don’t you just love the way we can meet new people and make new friends across the miles that we probably would never have met without the gift of blogging? That is definitely one of the best parts of blogging for me and for that I am grateful! There, I’ve started my Gratitude Journal already, thanks to my friend Theresa <3
So . . . I know that I could just jot a note on a regular piece of paper and drop it in the girls’ lunch boxes in the morning. But that really wouldn’t be as much fun as Melissa’s Love Notes that she has on her blog, Blessed Simplicity. This blog post has reminded me to slow down and make the little things count; to remember the moments and those fleeting days when we still have time to show our children just how much we love them. I love this idea and I’m definitely going to include this in my new year inspiration and goals! How about you? What are your new year goals? I would love to hear what you are doing so I can visit you and find even more inspiration for my new year plans and projects. If you want to print out some of these sweet Love Notes for your child, be sure to visit Melissa at Blessed Simplicity.
