Since we’ve been fixing up our old house, I have been searching for creative ideas and inspiration along the way. And one of the best places to find new ideas on home DIY projects is right here at the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop and Linky Party. Each week we will be featuring a few of the bloggers who link up with us at the party, and this week I found lots of creative inspiration – so I wanted to feature them and share them with you so you can check out their blogs, too.
I am really hopeful that we can still do a bit of work outside before the snow flies . . . today there was frost on the ground but there are still a lot of leaves left on the trees, so it will be a while before the final autumn clean-up can begin . . . and one of the things I’ve been wanting to do is paint our front door. Actually we don’t have a “front” door, but we have two doors on the front of our house, facing our driveway and the road. One is off of the kitchen which I believe was the original “front” door, and then we have another door that leads out to our very large deck, also on the front side of the house.
So I get to paint two “front” doors! The house is a very light blue-gray and the shutters are currently a faded dark red / maroon, all with white trim. We need to update the shutters and trim, and we kind of like the current color combination, but I have been wanting to do something with a little pop of color on the doors. I’m thinking turquoise which really looks pretty with the dark red, light gray, and white trim. Maybe this weekend, if it doesn’t rain!
In the meantime, here are a few creative ideas I found from last week’s Favorite Things Party . . . hope you find something that inspires you! And be sure to join us for this week’s Favorite Things Party and be sure to LEAVE A COMMENT SO WE CAN FEATURE YOU NEXT WEEK – be sure to leave your link number in your comment so I can find you next week. I’ll be looking for your comments and then we will choose a few to feature in upcoming parties. Hope to hear from you soon!
from the Interior Frugalista
This one was especially interesting to me as I just painted a couple of old trunks and couldn’t decide what else I wanted to do with them. I’ll post pictures next week when they are finished, but this post was really inspiring to me to try something new with my old stuff. Thanks Interior Frugalista for the creative inspiration!
For some reason I’ve been really loving all of the different ways to embellish pumpkins this year! I love these lace covered pumpkins from Vintage Paint and More – they look really easy to do, and I’m thinking I could use any kind of lace or ribbon that I already have on hand. I have to run out for a while today so I might stop and pick up a few pumpkins to embellish with the girls. We were already planning to paint a few later today so why not try adding a bit of lace? I can see a new blog post in my future!
Even though cooking is not high on my list of priorities for ways to spend my time, these Baked Pumpkin Spice Donuts from Five Spot Green Living might tempt me to hang out in the kitchen for a while in the next day or two. We might even be able to whip up a batch of donuts while we are painting / decorating pumpkins this afternoon!
6 Stunning DIY Fall Decor Projects
from DIY Home Sweet Home
And because I can never get enough of looking at other bloggers’ DIY projects, I couldn’t pass up this one that features six different DIY fall decor projects. I’m definitely going to try a couple of these ideas, especially as I’ve been wanting to learn how to transfer images to a wooden wall hanging. So many amazing projects, but just never enough time to do them all. I better get off the computer and get busy creating some DIY home decor projects while we are still fixing up our old house! Hope you can join us for this week’s party and DON’T FORGET . . .
