It’s been crazy weather around here for the past couple of weeks. Back in February we had a week or so of warm, sunny days with temperatures in the 60s. Fooled me into thinking that spring had arrived! But then the snow returned, but fortunately it did not freeze out those tiny hosta plants peeking through the frozen dirt in the garden. What a disappointment after so many days of spring-like weather to suddenly be walloped with another snow storm, cold, windy weather and gray skies. But the worst part was that after congratulating myself on getting through the winter without getting the flu, bronchitis, sinus infections and otherwise really nasty, miserable winter ailments . . . I was whacked with a very bad case of just exactly that. I’m not sure what “that” was but it put me out of commission for almost three weeks.
So today, even though it is still quite breezy, cloudy, and chilly, the leaves on the trees are budding out, my perennials are popping up (and shivering a bit, but better days are right around the corner), and I’ve been able to get outside and pull a bunch of those pesky weeds that don’t seem to mind the cold at all. I will conquer them all, I promise, but it will take time to tackle all of them. I’m very excited about spring this year because we have so many outside projects we want to do . . . . I was unable to get to many of the projects on our To Do list last spring, so this year we are pretty determined to tackle the tasks that will make our new house truly our home.
I hope you are enjoying the spring weather wherever you are and that you will have the opportunity to get outside and plant a garden, pick some flowers, go for a walk or a bike ride, have a bonfire in the back yard, go camping, or whatever makes your heart happy this time of year. Here’s a word of inspiration just in case you need it today, if your weather isn’t quite a spring-like as you would like . . .
