Every month there is a new issue of RUBY magazine. We have over 100 writers from all across the United States as well as several other English-speaking countries . . . of course, they don’t all write for RUBY every month, but over 100 writers have contributed to our publication over the past seven years. Our focus at RUBY magazine is to provide resources for women in their home, for whom their family is their primary ministry. I sometimes like to describe RUBY magazine as kind of like a Christian version of “Women’s Day” magazine – you will always find new recipes (thanks to Marilyn at Marilyn’s Treats!), and often we will also feature a seasonal craft project, as well as short stories, poems, inspirational articles, book reviews, and fun puzzles from our assistant editor, Beth Brubaker.
Although I found myself in the position of senior editor of RUBY magazine back in 2010 quite by “accident,” as I wasn’t looking for one more thing to do with my life, God has used this opportunity to open doors to new friendships with women around the world, and for that I am truly grateful. That’s just one of the reasons that RUBY magazine is one of my favorite things!
I love reading the articles, stories, and poems that our writers send in, and it is really great fun to create the magazine with all of the images that go with each article. I always strive to make RUBY magazine not only inspirational reading, but it is my goal that each issue will be beautiful, too. I hope you will take a minute and check out the March 2017 issue of RUBY magazine and see just what I mean! Inspiring writers, beautiful pictures, lots of encouragement and wisdom from so many women from so many different places – I know you will be blessed by their words.
One of our goals for the past few years was to figure out how to get RUBY magazine into print – since I’m not a technology genius, nor am I a digital or graphic designer, that was a bit of a learning curve for me, but we finally figured it out last summer. I’m thinking that there are probably easier ways to create a digital document and then convert it to a document that can be made available as a print publication, but at least it’s a start. I know I still have so much to learn about the self-publishing industry and all that goes into making this a successful project, but for now we are doing great!
We have more readers every month, we are offering our print magazines for purchase which is helping to support the ministry of RUBY financially, and the best part is . . . God is using the words of hope, inspiration, and encouragement from the hearts of our writers every month to touch the lives of women around the world. And that’s what makes this project truly one of my very favorite things!
I hope you can join us this week for the Favorite Things Blog Hop and linky party – it is so much fun connecting with other bloggers this way – which makes this blog hop another one of my favorite things. Hope you are having a great week!
