Happy New Year! What are your plans for the coming year of 2018? I hope you will think about setting some goals and taking care of yourself, along with all of the other responsibilities you have in life. Here at Vintage Mama’s Cottage, I am planning on sharing lots of fun, creative ideas to inspire you in your daily life as a wife, mom, friend, sister, daughter, and Child of God. One of my personal goals for this new year is to focus more on some of the “old-fashioned,” traditional activities of homemaking . . . so I am planning on sharing a weekly post on Home Economics 101, just in case you are interested in joining me on my journey.
I’ve missed some of the things that I used to do when I was a young mom, such as baking, sewing, and generally feeling OK about making my home my primary focus of ministry. It just seems that over the years, we have all become so busy with all of the amazing opportunities available to us as women, that at least for me, I’ve found myself struggling a bit to have the time and energy to focus on all things domestic.
Of course, I’m not going to stop doing the other things that I love, including blogging, writing, and editing RUBY magazine – but some of the other things that somehow sneak up on me when I’m not paying attention, well, they will just have to wait for a while as I turn my priorities back a few years, and seek to find the joy in everyday tasks like . . . doing laundry! I know, that might seem rather boring, and not much exciting content for a blog, but oh well – that’s what I’m going to do! So if you are longing for a time when days were filled with freshly folded laundry, sparkling clean kitchen floors, and the smell of baking bread . . . come on along and we’ll have a great time re-discovering some of the joys of the “good old days.”
Hi! My name is Nina and I truly am a “vintage mama!” My four older children are all grown-up with children of their own (so I’m also a grandma of many!) and we are currently raising our two teen-age daughters, Gracie and Annie. I am a writer, editor, teacher, designer, and creator of baby and children’s clothing, as well as refashioned garments and accessories for women. Here at Vintage Mama’s Cottage you will discover creative inspiration for your home and family.
